MILESTONE
13th October, 2023: Coinciding with the 12th Royal Wedding Anniversary, the MBBS Programme was formally launched in the distinguished presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister Dasho Dr. Lotay Tshering, Health Minister Dasho Dechen Wangmo, and the former President and officials of Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan.
2nd November, 2024: a 12-week pre-medical orientation was successfully conducted at Taba for the first batch of MBBS students of the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan, introducing them to the university environment, academic regulations, MBBS curriculum, professional ethics, communication and interpersonal skills, GNH values, Driglam Namzha, first aid, disaster preparedness, and the healthcare system of Bhutan
February 2024: In February 2024, the MBBS curriculum of the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan was officially approved after extensive consultations, national reviews, and validation by a Technical Working Group led by Dr. Karma Tenzin. The Faculty of Undergraduate Medicine has since adopted this integrated curriculum to equip students with the core competencies required to become competent physicians.
24th August, 2024: With the approval of the budget, under the Project Tied Assistance of the Government of India, to construct the Academic Block for MBBS. A 2-day meeting was convened with various stakeholders, heads of both basic and clinical departments of JDWNRH, and administration officials to discuss and incorporate the spatial requirements of the proposed Academic block
