Library Services at the Faculty of Undergraduate Medicine
The Faculty of Undergraduate Medicine under the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan is committed to fostering an enriching academic environment that supports learning, teaching, and research. As part of this commitment, the faculty has established a dedicated library managed by a qualified librarian to meet the academic needs of students and faculty members.
Being a newly established faculty, the library is currently in its developmental phase, with a modest but steadily growing collection of resources. Despite the limited number of books at present, the library provides access to essential medical textbooks and reference materials that support the MBBS curriculum and foundational learning.
In addition to physical resources, the library provides access to Research4Life, a major international initiative that offers free or low-cost access to a wide range of high-quality scientific journals, e-books, and databases. This has significantly expanded the scope of available academic resources, enabling students and faculty to engage with up-to-date research and evidence-based medical literature
The library offers a quiet and conducive space for study, encouraging self-directed learning and academic engagement. The librarian plays a key role in organizing resources, assisting users in accessing information, and maintaining an efficient library system.
Looking ahead, the faculty aims to further strengthen the library by expanding its collection, incorporating digital resources, and developing modern library services to meet evolving educational needs. Continuous efforts are being made to transform the library into a comprehensive academic resource center that supports excellence in medical education and research.
